Suggestions for sight-seeing
Below you will find some ideas to make your exploration of the Coeur de Lomagne interesting. We are working on even more, and will add them to the site as they are developed.
Days out for groups
1. For groups of adults
From 28€.
Meet at the Tourist Office at 9.45am.
10h : Guided tour of the bastide of Saint-Clar.
11h : Video about the village and its surroundings, followed by a tasting of local products.
12h00 : Lunch in a local restaurant.
If your visit happens to be on a Thursday, you can also stroll around the weekly market. But do come earlier to fit in the extra attraction!.
14h30: Visit to the Musée de l’Ecole Publique (School Museum), where you can take part in a dictation class from the days of old, using pen and ink old-style! Note that activities are in French!.
16h00 : Visit to the Garlic Museum.

2. For groups of children aged from 6 to 12 years old
Suggestions for full and half-days.
- Visit of the village of Saint-Clar : life as it used to be in the original castelnau* and in the bastide which followed. Guided tour explaining the development of the town from its origins to the present day. Length: 45-60 minutes.
Tariff: 1€ per child; no charge for teachers.
- Picnic in the village (various locations possible. In the event of bad weather, a room can be made available to your group).
- Visit of the Musée de l’Ecole Publique (School Museum) with activities for the children in the style of the period. Lasts 60-90 minutes. Note: activities in French! Tariff: 2.50€ per person
Made-to-measure discovery
The following are some of the possibilities when organising your day’s programme in the Coeur de Lomagne.
• The castelnau* and bastide of Saint-Clar:
A walk through time, taking in the 13th-century market hall, the arcaded squares, narrow street, half-timbered houses and cosy gardens. Your visit can be guided, if you wish.
• Art gallery, " La Galerie de toutes les couleurs ":
Monthly displays of paintings in the exhibition room at the Tourist Office.
• The School Museum (Le Musée de l’école publique):
Reconstruction of a school classroom of the 1950s ; both permanent and changing exhibitions; activities including writing in pen and ink, and taking (in French!) a School Certificate exam.
• The Château de Plieux:
True medieval fortress housing a collection of contemporary artworks.
• The Garlic Museum (just outside Saint-Clar):
On a typical Gascon farm, an exhibition about the cultivation and marketing of garlic.
• Local food producer (just outside Saint-Clar, in Magnas):
See how local delicacies are made, from the feeding of the ducks to the finished products.
• From June to September, "The Scarecrow Trail":
A discovery trip by car, by bike or on horseback, allowing you to discover not only the countryside but also a whole host of scarecrows made by local people.

• The Château de Gramont, listed historic monument in a mix of gothic and renaissance styles.
• The Honey Museum (Musée du miel) in Gramont:
Over a hundred old beehives on display, but the museum is also home to today’s bees! See them at work and taste their products!.
