Leisure center

The Centre is based at Es Calavès, 3 km from Saint-Clar. Take the road to Valence d'Agen and watch for a sign on the left to "Base de Loisirs" or "Resto du Lac".

The Site at Es Calavès is being developped and will ultimately offer a number of leisure activities. You will presently find some gites and a restaurant.

The lake

The naturel hillside lake of over 12 acres (5 hectares) has an idyllic wooded location. A section has been specially equipped for safe bathing

Open from the end of June to the end of August, the site has a beach of fine sand, swimming areas for children and adults, two giant slides, open-air games and shaded picnic areas. There is a small charge for entry.

Out of season, the site is available for walking and fishing.

The solar power station

Covering a site of 59 acres (24 hectares), a power station capable of producing 9Mw of electricity has been developped, and entered service in June 2010.

The installation of the solar panels was carried out in the most unobtrusive ways, and can be dismantled easily should the need arise. There is no damage or danger to the local flora.

The power station is one of the two biggest such developpments in France at this time, and will be open for visits by the public. Please contact the Tourist Office for up-to-date information

The animal park (planned)

Scheduled to open in Spring 2011, the park will cover around 25 acres (10 hectares) adjacent to the Leisure Centre.

Its aim to encourage learning about little known species and to raise awareness of the threats to our environment, the fragility of our ecosystems and the urgent need to protect them. The animals in the park will roam freely and in complete safety, and will include Bennett's Wallibies and Patagonian Hares.

The park will have domed greenhouses in wich various species will feel quite at home: flying foxes, lemurs and many types of exotic bird.

The campsite (planned)

Plans for a camsite at Ex Calavès are well in hand. The site should open for the 2011 season, initially with 100 pitches.
