Peace and Beauty
Situated away from all the busiest roads, the Gers is a rural county whose natural beauty and heritage have been carefully preserved.
Under the summer sun here in the Cœur de Lomagne, the rolling hillsides are reminiscent of Tuscany. For centuries, the fields in the valleys, their crops an ever-changing patchwork as the seasons change, have enjoyed the protection of the hilltop villages.
Two naturist campsites nestle comfortably in the heart of the Lomagne: proof, if it were needed, that nature lovers find all they need here to feel that they belong.
The colours above
The light here has a special quality, and the skies of the Lomagne will surprise and delight with their ever-changing colours. As the year passes by, as each day unfolds, the skies delight the eye: the deepest heavenly blue of the day will suffuse to the violet of evening, drifting through orange or even green. The air, the breeze and the Pyrenees decide.
Far from the light pollution of the cities, in an environment little changed over the years, the skies of the Lomagne may be observed from a place designed for the purpose. Water
Lakes protect the crops from the ravages of summer drought.
At Es Calaves, the Leisure Centre has its own lake, surrounded by woodland and greenery, and is a perfect oasis when the sunflowers bow their golden heads in the heat of the sun. All year round, it offers walks, exercise and fishing.
Ten miles away, in Lectoure, different waters offer a thermal spa, where pleasure can be combined with health whatever the time of year.
Garlic
Cœur de Lomagne: a land of tradition. And the traditional crop here is garlic. The very identity of the area has its roots entwined with those of the garlic bulbs. All summer long the market stalls groan under the weight of the plaits of garlic. Some annual festivals are even dedicated to celebrating the plant and all its qualities. More informations

Families
Families are very welcome in Cœur de Lomagne. Several activities and visit have been especially designed for them. Some examples: the Scarecrow Trail in summer; the School Museum; and the astronomical activities at the Ferme des Etoiles.
Children of all ages are very welcome in lots of our B&Bs, Gîtes and campsites, and some have children’s play equipment, too.
At the Tourist Office in the centre of Saint-Clar, you can find a booklet which is specially produced for families, the “Petit d’Artagnan” catalogue. In it, you’ll find all the activities for children in the Gers. If you prefer, you can download the catalogue by clicking on the Petit d’Artagnan logo below. Again designed especially for families (but available to all), the “Passeport Privilege” booklet offers discounts on the entry fees for various attractions in the area.
Groups
The Tourist Office is able to offer a variety of organised days to help you visit the Cœur de Lomagne district. Two round trips have been designed specifically for coach tours, whilst others have been created especially for school groups. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us for further information. Access
The Tourist Office has « Tourisme et Handicap » status for people with reduced mobility.
The Maison de l’ail (Garlic Information Centre)has “Tourisme et Handicap” status for the partially sighted and people with learning difficulties.
The Musée de l’école publique(School Museum) is accessible to those with reduced mobility or the partially sighted.
Some holiday accommodation is suitable for people with reduced mobility.
